After the Imperator which is rightly pretty much never seen on the battlefield I thought I'd paint something that'll see more play. Here are my new fighters and bombers which can be used for most armies of the Imperium. To keep them generic, I kept to a humble, grey paintjob so they'll fit in most armies and not look too out of place.

Retro dwarfs refurbished
So, I bought a whole lot of old Citadel and Marauder dwarfs on whim one night. More than half of them were painted but only a few had been based. The owner had painted them in the 90's and the bases that had been done were of the good old goblin green variety. Still, I saw the potential as there were quite a few nicely painted ones in the mix so I decided not to strip them of paint but to finish the basing as there were enough painted figures for a small army.
I touched up the models here and there but tried to avoid doing too much. After all, I wanted to preserve the old paintjob, not paint over it. Rebasing was easy as there was no flock or anything like that. Just add glue, sand, paint, flock and tufts. All done!
Pretty nice eh? These old sculpts really are some of the best dwarf figures ever sculpted! Credit for painting these goes of course to the original painter who I am grateful to for these even if I think it was a bit heartless of him to sell them at all :P

Ok, bad picture time but you get the idea. |

These don't look half bad when you look past the bases. |

More old school orcs
I painted these up for the Warhammer Quest game I showed you eralier but here they are:
I tried out the new Citadel effect paint, Nihilakh Oxide on the Black orc boss. The result was mixed. It can give you a nice oxidation effect but it takes some practise to use properly.
Two Marauder miniatures' "Giant black orc" and a Citadel Black orc champion. 80's stuff. |
A regular orc champion painted as a Black Orc (I need some for WHQ) |

Some old Marauder/Citadel orcs
I have a soft spot for the late 80's / early 90's era Orcs and Goblins that Marauder miniatures and later on Citadel used to make. Those were the days when orcs were still having fun on the battlefield and were sporting wide grins instead of being all grim this and dark that. Those models are fun and full of character. I've been slowly collecting them over the years after selling away my original O&G army. I've been painting up a fresh bunch of them since June or something, giving them a lick of paint every now and them in between more pressing projects. I have plenty more to paint but here's a skirmish warband's worth:
I'm trying to empty my painting table of half-painted stuff to start on those Winter War models, so expect a couple of updates in the near future :)
