Amon Hen table complete

My Amon Hen table is now complete with a hill and some scatter terrain. I might tinker with it some more but I'll call it done at this point.

The Nine have left Minas Morgul

"Nine Rings for mortal men doomed to die.."

Here's one of those figure sets that don't really make sense from a tabletop gaming point of view. There's no real reason to field all the ringwraiths but they are very, very nice figures!

Lotr orcs

Well what do you know? More orcs?

I had six of the original metal ones which were lovely to paint as old LOTR metals are, and I also got a bunch of the plastic ones I bought already painted to an ok standard, I just had to finish the bases to fit my armies. I have quite a few baddies to conquer Middle Earth now.

The long dark of Moria

I finished terrain and figures to play some Mines of Moria scenarios. Lots of work on foam and 3D printed parts. I even painted a bunch of Moria goblins which I was until lately very much determined not to do. I really don't like the sculpts at all. The original cave troll was decent, but the bulging eyes was something I'm not a fan of. Luckily I had an Isengard troll head I could swap the original one to, ending up with a much nicer figure.

Trouble in the Westfold

16 More Uruk-Hai Scouts join the forces of Isengard, this time plastic Uruks. Jeez, after painting those original metal scouts, the plastic ones are really awful to paint, even if they don't stand out from the crowd as poorer sculpts at any distance.

I have bought some Rohirrim ready painted, so I now have enough figures to do some skirmishing in Rohan also.

The dead do not suffer the living to pass

Although the Army of the Dead from Lord of the Rings wasn't on my to do list, I had these as expendable models and they gave me an opportunity to goof around with some Liquitex inks I got and practice doing some glowy effects on my airbrush. Good fun and really easy to paint. The models are surprisingly nice for lotr plastics, I bet they could be used as undead warriors in a whole lot of settings.

2020 stragglers finished

Here's some models I've finished after christmas. Now my table is empty of half-painted figures and I can start on new stuff!

Heinrich Kemmler and Krell

Some test Russians for my Finnish War 1808 28mm project

Nazgob the shaman. This had been on my desk for a long time!

The remaining members of the Fellowship of the Ring. Now I have the full set.

Cue the Howard Shore "Fellowship of the Ring fanfare"

War Mumak of Harad

This in one of those impulse builds. I've a mind to do some of those iconic Lord of the Rings creatures without much plans to use them in games. The Mumak is one of those beasties, although painting one up turned out to be quite a big task. Well, I'm still happy I did this, as I got this one on the cheap. I had to strip it, it had parts missing etc. Turned out well in the end. The Mumak surpassed the Adeptus Titanicus Warlord for the position of the largest GW figure I've painted, but as for my yearly painting tally, there's a grumpy dwarf insisting it still only counts as one...

Grey as a mouse
Big as a house
Nose like a snake
I make the earth shake
As I tramp through the grass
Trees crack as I pass
With horns in my mouth
I walk in the South
Flapping big ears
Beyond count of years
I stump round and round
Never lie on the ground
Not even to die
Oliphaunt am I
Biggest of all
Huge, old, and tall
If ever you'd met me
You wouldn't forget me
If you never do
You won't think I'm true
But old Oliphaunt am I
And I never lie

I painted the Haradrim to match my Frostgrave summoner warband. Their colours match, but the scale difference is noticeable.
